NUTLEY, NJ - Last May, 2019, Nutley resident Rhonda Frobose noticed the local social media conversation became dominated with demands to know why Nutley wasn’t doing anything for Pride month. Speculating that no one had asked this question in the proper format, Rhonda went to the next Nutley Board of Commissioners meeting and asked Mayor Dr. Scarpelli if he would consider having the Township of Nutley recognize June as Pride month. Without hesitation, the Mayor said yes. And so it began, a town-wide conversation about inclusivity and LGBTQ+ issues.

To advocate, organize, educate and socialize, Nutley’s LGBTQ+ residents and allies need a way to come together. Attempts by Nutley residents Rhonda Frobose and Patrick Koslecki to plan LGBTQ+ supportive events gave birth to the need to form an organized group. That’s when the NutleyPride LGBTQ+ Advocacy Group was formed.

Membership in the NutleyPride LGBTQ+ Advocacy Group is open to any current or former Nutley resident, property owner, business operator or employee of Nutley. Nutley Pride LGBTQ+ Advocacy Group is specifically organized to bring together the Nutley community, sponsors, residents and allies, for events regarding LGBTQ+ representation and inclusion in Nutley.
