NUTLEY, NJ - Nine new confirmed cases of COVID-19 coronavirus were announced today by the Township of Nutley Office of Emergency Management - the total numberer of confirmed cases is now 42. Statewide there is a total of 6,876 known cases and 82 deaths. In Essex County, there are 609 known cases and 14 deaths.

The Township of Nutley reported the first death related to COVID-19 coronavirus today. Details regarding the individual are not known.

As is often reported in Nutley, when one resident suffers a loss, we all suffer that lose, so even without knowing the patient's identity, the entire community is now grieving.

Regarding the other positive cases, the Nutley Health Department is working diligently to track any interactions the individuals who tested positive have had with residents, and they will ensure that anyone at risk of exposure is provided with all the information necessary, including being tested themselves if appropriate.
