Dear Nutley Staff, Parents and Community,

It seems hard to believe that 2018 is nearly over. I am hopeful that you have been able to enjoy the warm traditions of Nutley this season. I know I have.

First, let me commend all our staff and students who participated in holiday concerts and performances in our schools and around town these past few weeks. Events like these help to spread joy and allow the community to share in the holiday spirit. Our schools and various clubs, throughout the district, collected items like coats, toys and food throughout the past several weeks, not only helping those in need, but also showing the kindness and generosity of the Nutley community.

Our teachers, administrators, staff and students continue to inspire me every day. Our staff members always look for innovative ways to reach all of our students. Our students continue to thrive, grow, and learn each day, excited by new opportunities. Our community partners and parents enhance all of these efforts. For each of these things, I remain grateful.

At Monday night’s Board of Education meeting, we said goodbye to Board members, Mr. Sal Balsamo, Mr. Ryan Kline, Ms. Debbie Russo and Ms. Brenda Sherman. On behalf of all the students and staff they served, I thank them for their dedication and commitment to the district, giving hours of volunteer time throughout the course of their terms. I would also like to welcome new Board members Mr. Ken Reilly, Mrs. Teri Quirk, Ms. Erica Zarro and Mr. Frank DeMaio to their new roles. The Board will hold its reorganization meeting on January 7, 2019.

As we conclude 2018, I hope you all enjoy a restful holiday season and time spent with family and friends. I look forward to seeing staff and students, when we return on Thursday, January 3.

Sincerely,

Dr. Julie Glazer
