NUTLEY, NJ - Officers from the Nutley Police Department are currently working on a case in which individuals posed as landlords to obtain funds and a security deposit from their victim.
According to Nutley police, a report was made on August 19 by the victim stating that they saw an ad about an apartment for rent to share. After responding to the ad, the victim made arrangements to see the apartment. The victim them gave the "landlords" $750, consisting of $500 and an additional $250 deposit.
All parties involved agreed on a September 1, 2019 move in date.
Shortly thereafter, it was discovered that the parties posing as landlords were not the actual owners of the property.
The case was moved to the Detective Bureau.
