Many EMS agencies across New Jersey have announced that they are "standing down" and either selectively choosing which calls to respond to or, in some cases, just not responding at all during this most critical time.
The Nutley Volunteer Emergency & Rescue Squad, however, is reiterating our commitment to the Township of Nutley, NJ, it's residents, employees and visitors.
Rest assured that if you are in Nutley, New Jersey and are experiencing an emergency requiring an ambulance, call 911 and we will respond- but please use our service responsibly. The EMS call volume is surging and the hospitals are overloaded.
Our agency has restructured to become one of Essex County's busiest, fastest, and most progressive EMS agencies in the state. With over 60 members, our agency is here to serve our town in it's time of need - 24/7.
Our volunteers are not being paid nor seeking remuneration. We do not pick and choose our calls. Some of our members are pulling 80+ hour work weeks and some of our members have been laid off from their full time jobs. But each of us joined the squad to serve our neighbors and that is what we are here to do.
