NUTLEY, NJ - The Nutley Police Department is advising residents to be aware of a scam that tells the victims they won the Publisher's Clearing House sweepstakes.
According to the police, a resident received a call this week from a party who stated he was with Publishers Clearing House. The caller stated that the resident won $5.5 million dollars and a new Mercedes-Benz
In order to claim the prize, the resident was told to mail a cashiers check for $500.00 to an undisclosed address. The resident was suspicious and did not mail any money and reported the incident to police.
The Nutley Police Department advises residents to be on the lookout for similar scams and to not give out personal identifies over the phone.
