NUTLEY, NJ - The Nutley Police Department announced Thursday that certain non-emergency calls will only be taken over the phone. This new procedure was enacted as a response to the COVID-19 virus. 

As of Wed. Mar. 18, there were three confirmed cases of coronavirus in the township. Three Confirmed Cases of Coronavirus in Township of Nutley; State of Emergency Declared

The types of calls that Nutley police officers will take over the telephone are those that do not require an on scene investigation. Residents meeting the criteria set by The Nutley Police Department will be guided through the process.

The department stressed that officers will continue to respond to emergency calls as necessary.
