VERONA, NJ - Four people were arrested on Oct. 26 after Verona police broke up a large party on Cypress Avenue.

According to reports, police responded at around 9 p.m. to a call of a large fight in progress.  When they arrived, the officers observed approximately 150 teenagers fleeing the area.  

Officers approached the residence where they found an adult man with facial injures and two juvenile assault victims, one of whom had briefly lost consciousness.  After rendering first aid, investigation revealed that the resident was hosting a party where alcohol was present and being consumed by underage people.

Several fights had broken out and numerous people were actively fighting. The juvenile resident reported that she intended to have a small party, but it got out of control, mainly due to social media. Two party goers were transported to local hospitals by the Verona Rescue Squad for head and facial injures, according to police reports.

Fatjon Alteni, 54, of Verona, Kristi Alteni, 24, of Verona, Gerard Alteni, 27, of Livingston, and a Verona juvenile were all charged with 2C:33-17B - "providing a premise where alcoholic beverages would be consumed by under aged persons" and 2C:33-12B, "knowingly maintaining a premises where people would gather to engage in unlawful conduct."  Both charges are disorderly persons offenses, and each carry a maximum penalty of up to 6 months in jail and $1,000 fine. The adults have a Verona Court date of Nov. 21 at 9AM.

In addition , another juvenile was charged with one count of Aggravated Assault and one count of  Simple Assault for breaking a bottle over the head of another attendee. The juvenile complaints were refereed to the Essex County Family Court. 

The investigation is on going and more assault charges may be forth coming.
