NEWARK, NJ -  Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Nutley Police Chief Thomas J. Strumolo identified the victim in Thursday's fatal hit-and-run incident in the township.

75-year-old Roseann Ratz of Lyndhurst was crossing Washington Ave. near Rutgers with a female friend when she was struck by a motorist around 7:22 p.m. Thurs. Oct. 15. The motorist fled the scene.

Ratz was transported to St. Joseph’s University Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 7:58 p.m.

Both the Nutley Police Department and Essex County Prosecutors Office are investigating the case. No arrests in this case have been made.
