ROSELLE, NJ – When it comes to finding the right community to settle down and buy a home, more families are choosing Roselle, says Borough Officials.

Within the past 18 months, borough officials said they have noticed a spike in property values and a reduction in available housing stock.

“I believe there were more than 1,000 residential properties on the market. Within this last year, that number has substantially shrunk, to less than 300,” Mayor Christine Dansereau said. “A lot of younger families are moving in. They are learning the Borough has so much to offer.”

According to, there are just 191 homes for sale in Roselle. That includes a four-bedroom home on 1st Avenue for $299,999, a three-bedroom, three-bath home on Sheridan Avenue on $309,000 and a three-bedroom, one-bath home on Drake Avenue for $210,000.

“I like to call Roselle “unique,” Dansereau added. “When you drive around Roselle, you notice ranch-style houses, colonial-style houses, townhouses, and apartments. There are a lot of options here and people really like that. We’re right near major highways and mass transit, and we are an affordable option for home buyers who want to maximize their dollar in a competitive regional real estate market.”

Roselle officials say they see mass transit as a major enticement, which is why they are exploring a jitney service to area NJ Transit stations for 2019.

“This new transportation system will be able to take residents to train stations, giving them easy access,” Dansereau said. “It is another way in which we are putting our residents first.”
