UNION, NJ – A Union High School football player has been in a coma since the night game against Bridgewater-Raritan.

Senior Kofi Ansah was on the football field Friday, October 25, when he suffered a lacerated spleen during the away game.  Since then, Ansah has been in a medically induced coma, with his family continuously by his side.

According to a gofundme Page set up by Union schools Athletic Trainer Meg Berry, Ansah’s health is moving in a positive direction.  Doctors are pleased with the progress he has made over the past week.

Ansah is a lifelong Union resident, having attended Franklin Elementary, Burnet Middle School and Union High School.  The gofundme Page says Ansah is “smart, loyal, caring and hard-working”.

Funds from the gofundme Page will help support Ansah and allow his family to advocate for him and to be there for him the moment he begins his journey toward recovery.  To contribute to his gofundme page, click here.  They are hoping to raise $10,000.
