PARAMUS, NJ - Members of the Paramus Rescue Squad used the "Jaws of Life" to extricate two individuals from a passenger sedan that spun around after being rear ended, and was facing the wrong direction in the fast lane of Route 17 northbound in Paramus on Thursday afternoon. A total of four vehicles were involved in the crash, which resulted in a complete closure of Route 17 northbound, just south of Ridgewood Avenue, to facilitate the response of emergency personnel.
Paramus FD Engine Companies #1 and #3, Paramus PD, Paramus EMS, and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital responded along with Paramus Rescue to aid the crash victims. Two of the four vehicles involved in the crash were removed by flatbed tow trucks. Both victims were transported by a Paramus EMS ambulance to Hackensack University Center's main campus.
