HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - Stormy weather only delayed the end of a tremendous seasons for the Hasbrouck Heights Swim Club Dive team.

After Friday evening's storms postponed the Super 6 Dive Championship meet to Saturday, the HHSC Dive team, placed in a tie for second.  The team, which  won the regular season with a 4-1 record in a dual meets, had the format of the meet work against them on Saturday,

Unlike dual meets, where all the divers compete and points are giving based on their place, Saturday's championship meet limited all teams to two divers per event, which negated some of the depth that the Aviators showed throughout the season.

"It's very selective, and with how good our team was this year, it was very difficult to pick only two per division," Hasbrouck Heights Head DIve coach Lauren Cappadonna stated.

"Winning first for the season means so much to me because we won not only from the work of our select divers today, but from the hard work that all of our divers put in throughout the whole season," she added in in a statement on her Facebook page.

Cappadona was a diver for the team and recounted that  "there was a period of time where we never even won a single meet." Last year they won their first meet she said. This year they finished the regular season 4-1.

"It's proof that it's truly a team sport," she said. "This group of kids is very special to me. They are a tight knit group of friends as well as a team of kids who are excited to come and dive every day. They're a group that made history today, marking a huge milestone for this team and being part of its positive turn around."
