PARAMUS, N.J. -- A 31-year-old Lyndhurst man was arrested in Paramus on Tuesday after an investigation found that he was in possession of child pornography.

On Feb. 11, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the apartment of Cawley Hawkins, who is married and works as an autobody technician. The investigation concluded that Hawkins used the internet to “view, download, and possess approximately 223 digital files depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children,” and that he shared more than 50 such files online.

Hawkins was charged with one count of Distribution of Child Pornography, in an amount greater than 25 files, a second-degree crime, and one count of Possession of Child Pornography in an amount greater than 100 files, a third-degree crime.

Hawkins was remanded to the Bergen County Jail. He is due in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
