With Independence Day right around the corner, Paramus is set to hold its annual Fourth of July festivities. This year, the celebrations will be kicked off at the Cliff Gennarelli Sports-Plex on Sunday July 1st where the Paramus Fireworks Show will be held. This firework spectacular is always packed with the gates opening at 6:00 PM. The evening’s festivities will be hosted by Master of Ceremonies Rich Limbacher Jr. and will feature music and entertainment right up until Mayor LaBarbiera gives his Welcome Address and kicks off the fireworks. This year’s fireworks will be sponsored by longtime sponsor, Westfield Garden State Plaza. The Fourth of July Committee has released the following in regards to entry upon the event:
“To ensure the highest level of security, all bags and coolers are subject to inspection prior to entering the Cliff Generalli Sports-Plex. Alcohol, glass containers, littering, and commercial solicitation, outside vendors are strictly prohibited at the event”
The Paramus Fourth of July Committee continues the week of events on Wednesday, July 4th, when they host the annual Independence Day Parade. The parade will kick off at 9:00 AM with the ribbon cutting ceremony at the intersection of Century Road and Farview Avenue. The parade will head North on Farview Avenue and will end at Memorial School where all parade participants will be announced at the grand stand. Upon completion of the parade, the closing ceremony will be hosted by Mayor LaBarbiera and will feature the 2018 Grand Marshal, Float Contest winners, Stroller Contest winners, Bicycle Contest winners and Mr. & Miss 4th of July. Paramus Sunrise Rotary will also be collecting food donations for the Paramus Food Pantry along the parade route prior to and during the parade.
On Saturday July 7th, the Paramus Police and Fire Departments will carry the festivities into the weekend where the will battle it out on the softball field at the Frank “Dutch” Cleenput Annual 4th of July Softball Game. First pitch will be at 8:00 PM at the Cliff Gennarelli Sports-Plex.
The Paramus Fourth of July Committee consisting of Chairman Ace Antonio, Vice Chairwoman Michelle Limbacher, Parade Coordinate Nicole Collis, Parade & Fireworks Operations Coordinator Joseph Valentino Jr., Finance Coordinator Abelardo Cartagena Jr., Utilities Coordinator Jim Philips, Fireworks Entertainment Coordinator Richard Limbacher Jr., Vehicle Coordinator Pt Philips, Mr. & Miss 4th of July Contest/Volunteer Coordinator Christine Cartagena, Softball and Event Coordinator Lisa Corrado, Director of Media Carlo Antonio, Committee Members Joseph Valentino III, Norman Antonio, Cathy Valentino and Carmelita Antonio as well as Council Liaison Councilman Pat Verile all deserve special recognition for their year round efforts to make the week-long celebration possible.

Also included in the Independence Day celebrations will be a concert by the Paramus Community Orchestra to be hosted at the Paramus Bandshell on a date to be determined.
