PARAMUS, N.J. -- Members of the Paramus Catholic Dance Team took home top awards this past weekend at the Dance Team Union National Championship.
The JV Variety and Varsity Hip-Hop teams at Paramus Catholic competed in the preliminary competition in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, Feb. 22 during which only a select number of teams from thousands around the country advanced to Finals on Sunday. Their outstanding performances earned them a spot in the Final competition. Varsity Hip Hop won Third Place out of 20 teams and JV Variety defended their National Championship title and won it again for the second year in a row.
They were evaluated on technical aspects, performance quality, and memorization of each routine.
The Varsity Hip-Hop Team at Paramus Catholic brought an intense hip-hop routine choreographed by Jackie Koegel/Choreo-Connect, and the JV Variety team came prepared with a Beyonce-themed Variety routine choreographed by Jillian Zagorski. The program is coached by Caitlin Ritchie, Michelle Jaworski and Idania Algieri.
The JV Variety: Tiaris Lantigua, Nayevska Mejia, Natalie Diaz, Gianna Liggio, Morgan Pounder, Shea Lulla, Marley Franklyn, Claudia Martinez, Gabrielle Macre and Lindsay Danganan.
Varsity Hip-Hop: Jada Oddo, Delaney Liberty, Sophie Lubin, Marilyn Zepeda, Karelyn Gomez, Gabriella Puso, Olivia Puzio, Samantha Marques, Jessica Cichino, Antonio de Leon, Selina Kagume, Tiaris Lantigua, Nayevska Mejia, Shea Lulla, Marley Franklyn and Victoria Piszel.
Overall, the Paramus Catholic Dance Team and their coaches Caitlin Ritchie, Michelle Jaworski & Idania Algieri expressed their gratitude for having left the national competition with these successes and the chance to grow as a team.
