PARAMUS, N.J. – The borough police department’s LEAD (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) program was bestowed with a check for $86,404 from the proceeds of the L.E.A.D. Fest State Fair, which was held at Garden State Plaza in June.

LEAD Chairman Nick De Mauro and Vice Chairman Tom Marinaro presented the department with the check at the borough council meeting Tuesday night. The funds will go towards the LEAD school-based programs at the Paramus Public Schools, (previously Drug Abuse Resistance Education), which drill down the “evils of drugs” and help children build a good relationship with police officers.
