Orpheus Club Men’s Chorus, celebrating 110 years of music-making, has been honored by the Village of Ridgewood with a proclamation naming April 2019 as Orpheus Club Men’s Chorus Month.
Village Mayor Ramon M. Hache, Sr. and Deputy Mayor Susan Knudsen read and presented the proclamation on Sunday, April 7, during the chorus’ spring concert. The concert’s theme was “Music of the Immigrant Experience.” Orpheus President Vernon Reed and Music Director John J. Palatucci accepted the award on behalf of the club
"For 110 years, the Orpheus Club Men's Chorus, the oldest civic musical organization in the village of Ridgewood, New Jersey, and, thereby, one of the oldest such groups in the state, has been a singing voice for good throughout the greater New York/New Jersey metropolitan area,” Palatucci said. “Its criteria for membership remains constant: a love of singing, enjoying the company of like minded men, and a sense of service to the larger community for the greater good of all."
