PARAMUS, N.J. -- A middle-aged couple were found dead at a Paramus residence this past weekend over an apparent drug overdose.

According to a news release from the Paramus Police Department, borough police responded to a call of two sick persons inside a Forest Avenue home on Saturday, October 26 before 11 a.m. by the homeowner, a 77-year-old woman. Upon arrival to the residence, borough police found two deceased people -- a 47-year-old man, on the kitchen floor, and a 51-year-old woman, his reported live-in girlfriend, in a bedroom. The caller, who was the man’s mother, said she thought the two were “just passed out after using drugs.”

Police found possible narcotics and paraphernalia at the scene. An investigation by both the Paramus Police Detectives, assisted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit, is ongoing. Toxicology results are pending.
