HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Authorities have arrested the Hackensack man who was a suspect in a murder that occurred early Sunday morning in the city, and a second party.

Hackensack Police on December 23 arrested Jairo Echeverry, 20, in Brooklyn, N.Y. and charged him with murder, one count of possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and one count of possession of a handgun without a permit. Brian Guerrero, of Paramus, 27, was also arrested and charged with hindering apprehension. Both men are unemployed.

Echeverry was announced wanted by police yesterday after investigators said he was "armed and dangerous." The arrests stem from the murder of 22-year-old Hackensack resident Christian Pacas, who was shot in the chest and killed in front of 66 Grove Street, a Hackensack residence, on Sunday, December 22 after 1 a.m.

Echeverry and Guerrero are currently awaiting extradition from Brooklyn.
