PARAMUS, N.J. — Motorists traversing Route 17 southbound should prepare for delays as the highway is currently down to one lane south of Ridgewood Avenue, according to police.
The temporary lane closures, which police closed before 7 p.m. this evening, come on the heels of the aftermath of the severe thunderstorm that occurred late this afternoon that brought with it up to 2 inches of rain, which flooded the highway.
A flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service this afternoon which included southeastern Bergen County.
Meanwhile, police and fire crews are also on scene near a cul-de-sac in the vicinity of Roosevelt Boulevard where first responders are attending to a mess of downed utility poles, wires, and trees — also the result of the thunderstorm.
