PARAMUS, NJ – Starting May 31, a portion Paramus Road will be closed completely to traffic as the New Jersey Department of Transportation replaces the overpass above Route 4.

Beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, Paramus Road will be shut in both directions and several ramps to the highway will be closed to allow for the overpass to be demolished and replaced, according to the NJDOT. Additionally, during construction, Route 4 traffic in both directions will be shifted to use the shoulders as a travel lane.

Work is expected to last two weeks, according to the NJDOT. Once the bridge is reopened, work will continue on fencing, guiderail, parapets and final paving. According to the NJDOT, the $5 million state-funded project should be complete by the fall.
