PARAMUS, N.J. — A commercial truck with New York plates rolled over on its side this morning at around 8 a.m. and blocked the exit ramp from the Garden State Parkway southbound to Route 17 in Paramus during rush hour traffic.
The truck’s operator self-extricated before emergency responders arrived.
The Paramus Police and Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services attended to the accident scene with assistance from the New Jersey State Police Bloomfield Barracks troopers.
Non-life threatening injuries were reported, though one person was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment.
While the cause of the accident is unclear, the commercial vehicle, which read Thermo King 100 and had double wheels in the rear, appeared to have been larger than the Parkway’s weight limit for commercial vehicles.
Police on the scene did not say whether any summonses would be issued to the truck driver.
