HACKENSACK- Daniel Mai works hard to inspire his teammates to be committed in both school and football. Mai’s work ethic is not unique to school, and it transfers to the field as well. He’s among the first in the weight room, locker room, and on the field, which he hopes creates urgency for his teammates to be timely and punctual as well.

Mai said, “My passion for football and success ultimately drives this behavior, which I hope is contagious to my teammates and enables them to do the same.”

Mai’s success has inspired others. Mai’s Head Coach, Benjie Wimberly, praises Mai for tutoring one of his teammates who was struggling academically.

Wimberly said, “He helped his teammate turn his academic career around. This young man was failing four classes, and this past year, he passed all of his classes. Daniel has helped him become a better young man on and off the field.”

“Daniel is the consummate team leader and the best Team Captain I have had in thirty years of coaching high school athletics.”
