PARKLAND, FL- The slow reopening of Florida has shown a slight uptick of  COVID-19 cases. Cases increased by almost 10,000 in the past two weeks. According to the latest report from the Florida Department of Health, there are 54,497 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 2,413 deaths in Florida. Prior to Phase 1 of the reopening, Parkland went two weeks with no new cases. It has now 4 new cases in the past 2 weeks with a total 29 confirmed cases. Coral Springs had 32 confirmed new cases of COVID-19 in the past 2 weeks with a total of 272. In all, Broward County has 6,870 total cases, the second largest number in the state behind Miami-Dade's 17,396 cases. 

Broward County moved to Phase 1 of reopening on Monday, May 18, 2020, and opened beaches and fitness facilities on Tuesday, May
