PARKLAND, FL- Parkland Travel Soccer and the City of Parkland are ensuring that the warm and kind spirit of Alyssa Alhadeff lives on at Pine Trails Park.
The "Friendship Bench" at Pine Trails Park was dedicated in memory and appreciation of Alyssa, who lost her life in the Stoneman Douglas tragedy of 2018 and was a Captain for Parkland Travel Soccer.
Mayor Christine Hunschofsky was on hand as the Friendship Bench was dedicated at Field 8, which was Alyssa's number and a field she spent many hours training on over the years.
According to the Parkland Travel Soccer Facebook page, the Friendship Bench "was a place where she (Alyssa) and her teammates sat and shared many memories. The Friendship Bench is recognized in remembrance of Alyssa and all the amazing values and greatness she brought to the world. She has a story that remains incredibly important to the Parkland community, Parkland Soccer Club, and to those who were closest to Alyssa. Her legacy is incredibly meaningful and lives on."
