In Solidarity with Parkland, Relay Cares Team Raises $1,700 for Relay for Life of Parkland and Coral Springs

PARKLAND, FL - Joe Gillette traveled to Parkland this past weekend to support Relay for Life of Parkland and Coral Springs, bringing with him 183 luminaria and $1,700 in donations from all over the country in support of the Relay Cares team at the Relay.  Read Joe's story here.

At Relay, Gillette said, "Though I flew down from Brooklyn this afternoon, tonight I am from Texas, Michigan, Arizona, California and dozens of other communities around the country who showed that Relay Cares by dedicating a special luminaria bag to support your community.  Each Relayer, each bag, was inspired by your strength and a desire in solidarity to show that no matter where we walk we are one family, one community."

At the conclusion of Relay, referencing the 17 lives lost in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas tragedy, Gillette said, "We had 183 bags dedicated. When I got on the plane we had raised $1500. When I got off the plane it was up to $1700.  It was not until later on in the evening when I realized the remarkable significance of the number 17 and  the incredible aura of having settled on the number."
