PARKLAND, FL- As Parkland and Broward County residents adjust to their newly opened beaches, they are in for a treat this afternoon. NASA and SpaceX will be sending its first manned rocket in nine years on a flight to the International Space Station.
Two astronauts, Drew Hurley and Bob Behnken, will be aboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that is scheduled to blast off from Kennedy Space Center today at 4:33 p.m. if conditions are favorable. Rocket launches from Kennedy Space Center have been seen flickering through the air as far away as Miami Beach if the skies are clear. For Parkland and Broward residents, keeping an eye north toward the sky and having a pair of binoculars handy could help them catch a distant glimpse of the historic event, which is the first time SpaceX will launch NASA astronauts into space.
