PARKLAND, FL- Local Girl Scout Troup 10151 has been working tirelessly for months developing their Silver Award project for the local community. The project is creating a Zen Garden for the children of SOS Children's Villages in Coconut Creek.  On Saturday, September 14 at 9:00 a.m., the garden will be unveiled and dedicated to the SOS children.

The Zen Garden project was chosen by the girls from Troop 10151 as their Silver Award project. The Silver Award represents a girl’s accomplishments in Girl Scouting and in her community as she grows and works to improve her life and the lives of others. The first four requirements of the Silver Award are: building skills, exploring careers, gaining leadership skills and making a commitment to self-improvement.

The garden itself has taken months for the girls to plan, develop, and build. It contains a zen brick maze with many plants and a flowering tree along with two stone benches. The girls also added a mural of a sunset with the inspirational wording from Walt Disney "If you can dream it, you can achieve it." They also have rocks with inspirational words written on them that the kids can fidget with and hold as a calming influence in the garden.

The dedication begins on Saturday, September 14, at 9:00 a.m. at SOS Children's Village in Coconut Creek for anyone wishing to celebrate the dedication.
