PARKLAND, FL- Parkland student-led group Kids Care is organizing an effort to tackle hunger this summer. While many residents in the Parkland and Coral Springs area are busy making summer plans for travel and recreation, the students of Kids Care are also watching out for their fellow students and their families. Many students in our local schools depend on school-sponsored meals as a key part of their diet, and the summer break is a time of need for them. Charlie Khalil is leading the effort to gather shopping bags of food to donate to families in need in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. For those wishing to help with the effort, a list of items to be included in a shopping bag is listed below. During the month of May the bags can be brought to Calvary Chapel Parkland's 10 a.m. service at Westglades Middle School or Coral Springs Club Pilates during the week. Shopping bags can also be dropped off at Charlie and Heather Khalil’s home. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements. Once the bags are collected, they will be organized and distributed through Hope South Florida during June and July.
