PARKLAND, FL- A section of the sidewalk and swale (the low, grassy area between the road and sidewalk) will be temporarily closed on the west side of Parkside Drive beginning next week. Preparations for the project are currently underway. The closed section will be between Loxahatchee Road and Darby Lane, which is south of Riverglades Elementary School. The project is aimed at infrastructure improvements and creating a good flow of traffic for the area.
While the temporary sidewalk closure will impact some residents, the largest group that may wish to consider making alternate plans are people involved with pick ups and drop offs at Riverglades Elementary School, as no parking will be allowed for a significant stretch on the west side of Parkside Drive during the project. As an alternate solution, the Parkland Tennis Center at Quigley Park will be available for parking on a first come-first serve basis while the sidewalk is closed. The project is expected to be complete by the end of October.
