PARKLAND, FL- New Coronavirus cases continue to increase across the nation with Florida increasing by over 8,000 daily in the last two days. Stoneman Douglas was the latest school to be hit by the virus with school cases increasing by 5. Some of those cases included players on the MSD football team. 

The percent of positive results ranged from 6.67% to 10.06% over the past 2 weeks and was 7.10% on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. This percentage calculated is for people that test positive for the first time and does not include people that had previously tested positive.

Here are the current numbers according to the Florida Department of Health as of Wednesday, November 25, 2020:

Florida: 961,676 total confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 16,931 in the past 2 days.  

Broward County: 103,440 total confirmed cases, an increase of 1,693 in the past 2 days.

Parkland: 841 total confirmed cases, an increase of 24 in the past 2 days.

Coral Springs: 5,087 total confirmed cases, an increase of 75 in the past 2 days.

Deaths in Florida related to COVID-19: 18,254 an increase of 169 in the past 2 days.

Broward County: 6,656 (6.4%) total hospitalizations with 1,638 (1.6%) deaths due to COVID-19. Deaths increased by 9 in the past 2 days. The median age is 39.

Broward County Percent Positive: 6.0% per the latest data on November 24, 2020.

Broward County Hospital Bed Availability: Hospitals have 1157 (21.2%) beds available and 81 (17.9%) adult ICU beds available per the latest data on November 25, 2020.

Parkland Schools Total Cases:

  • Heron Heights Elementary: 2 cases
  • Marjory Stoneman Douglas: 6 cases 
  • Park Trails Elementary: 4 cases
  • Riverglades Elementary: 2 cases
  • Somerset Parkland Academy: 4 cases
  • Westglades Middle School: 3 cases
