CORAL SPRINGS, FL- The new Trader Joe’s store in The Walk of Coral Springs is expected to open as early as at the end of October or in early November, the property’s top manager said.

“We don’t have a definitive date, but it’s soon, it’s very soon,” George Rahael, CEO and founder of Amera, which operates The Walk, told city officials last week.

The popular grocery chain is in the process of opening in the former Barnes & Noble building at 2790 N. University Drive.

“We’ve handed it over to them. They’ve had it for a week or two, maybe,” Rahael said. “And now they are in the process of finalizing their interior.”
In a call with City Commissioners last week, Rahael said his firm had to work quietly to secure Trader Joe’s for the building.

“We were under confidentiality agreements not to disclose prematurely what was happening. If we seemed in the early days to be not as transparent as we normally are, we hope that you understand,” Rahael told commissioners.

Coral Springs officials have said they will monitor traffic at the busy shopping center and would consider taking measures through the city’s “traffic calming” program to slow cars driving through the area around the intersection of North University Drive and NW 28 Street, which is next to the store.
