PARKLAND, FL- Governor DeSantis signed an Executive Order opening Phase I of Broward and Miami-Dade counties on Monday. In a press conference held in Doral on Thursday afternoon, DeSantis made the announcement official. Non-essential businesses such as manufacturing facilities, office buildings, and more will be allowed to open under Phase I social distancing guidelines.

DeSantis is glad to begin the reopening process in South Florida, but continues to recognize the ongoing risks associated with COVID-19.

"We can't take our eye off the ball," said DeSantis. "The virus is still here."

Governor DeSantis also recognized Miami-Dade's extensive guide about how to navigate life going forward in its publication "The New Normal: A Guide for Residents and Commerical Establishments," which was released on Wednesday.
