PARKLAND, FL- Superintendent Robert Runcie has announced at a 4 p.m. news conference that all Broward Public Schools will be closed next week due to COVID-19. In an abrupt shift from yesterday's news conference announcing they would remain open, Runcie and Broward County now join schools and universities around the country that be closed until further notice. Broward County had only 2.5 days of school scheduled for next week, so the immediate impact of being closed next week is only half that of a normal week. The county is making every effort to take care of its staff and employees as well during this time away from the schools. Meals will also be available for those students that count on receiving nutrition.
More information about closure and the duration can be found on the Broward County Public Schools website.
