PARKLAND, FL- Heron Heights Elementary School's robotics teams are experiencing continued success. The Toxic Tacos team will be joining The Fantastic Four team at the State Robotics Competition after advancing from the Deerfield Qualifier last weekend.

The Deerfield Beach Qualifier at Deerfield Beach High School hosted 18 middle and elementary school teams from Broward and Dade County. 

"The Toxic Tacos did an amazing job in robot skills, which consists of coding and driving the robot," shared Robotics Coach Angela Gibson. "The team came in 3rd place in Robot Skills, while excelling in the coding match."

Additionally, the competition includes a teamwork component that consists of working cohesively with other schools to score the most points.

"The keys in this area are communication and driving skills," adds Gibson. Heron Heights placed 2nd in teamwork, winning a bid to the State Championships on March 8th at Westminister Christian Academy in Palmetto Bay. 

The Toxic Tacos are ranked 36th in the state and the Fantastic Four are ranked 24th. Both  teams will be practicing extra hours for the championship in March.
