PARKLAND, FL- The City of Parkland and Mayor Christine Hunschofsky are hosting the Sixth Annual Mayors' Chess Challenge on Saturday, February 29. This free community event is presented throughout the academic year by Mayors and elected officials throughout Broward County with the goal to support scholastic chess in the schools and communities.

The event is open to chess players of all ages and skill levels and their families. No RSVP is required and the event is free. Instructors from the National Scholastic Chess Foundation will be on site to help those new to the game of chess. Participants will also receive a “Mayors’ Chess Challenge Passport” that can be stamped at each event they attend during the school year.

The Mayors' Chess Challenge is held on Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the P-REC at Pine Trails Park.
