PARKLAND, FL- Westglades Middle School recently participated in the "Hour of Code," a global movement that reaches tens of millions of students in over 180 countries through a one-hour introduction to computer science and computer programming.

This year, the annual event has expanded as Westglades continues to work to expose students to Computer Science.  "We are proud to say we partnered with," said Westglades Community Liason Chanda James. "Sixteen amazing and talented Amazon engineers joined us on campus to assist teachers in hosting the Hour of Code."

The Amazon engineers brought certificates and goodies for all students who participated. The activities included: Compose Music with Code, Storyboarding and Programming with Sims, Code the News, and Climate, Science and Code.

"A big thank you to our Amazon volunteers, including Piyush Bothra and Diana Zoberg, who are also proud Westglades' parents!" said James. Westglades hopes to continue its participation in the annual event.
