PARKLAND, FL- The Coronavirus is affecting all Americans and shutting down many facilities that people count on for daily assistance. Local shelters have been forced to close, creating a dire food and housing need for families. Pery Canan, Senior Director of Shared Meals and Mobile Showers at Hope South Florida, reached out to Parkland resident Heather Khalil and the local Kids Care Club for help.
Parkland student-led group Kids Care organizes an effort to tackle hunger during the summer months to fill the gap for students who rely on school-sponsored meals. With the shut down of local shelters and the immediate need to help feed families, Kids Care Club is stepping in to fill the gap. For those wishing to help with the effort, a list of items to be included in a shopping bag is listed below.
Contact Lauren Moore at 302-381-3113 or Kim Goldstein at 954-270-3444 to make arrangements. Once the bags are collected, they will be organized and distributed through Hope South Florida and Blessings Pantry.
