PARKLAND, FL-  The community of Miralago gathered this past Sunday to give back to people in need this holiday season. Nicole Boothe organize the project to give back to the local community in a practical way. The idea was to put together care packages and toiletry kits filled with items that are helpful to people getting back on their feet.

Parkland residents donated travel size toiletry items to be included toiletry kits. On Sunday evening four families gathered to assemble the kits. The kits included shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, comb and lotion. Almost 350 bags were made that will be given out at a Christmas event for homeless adults on December 21, 2019. Each individual is given the opportunity to get a shower at the event, and they will receive a towel, washcloth and the toiletry bag assembled by Boothe and her crew. Any extra toiletry bags will be donated to the Hope South Florida mobile shower that serves the area homeless.

Boothe loves to have youth involved in helping out. "We are all very blessed here in the Parkland community. This is a great way to raise our kids to know that there is a bigger picture and to show kindness and generosity to everyone around us no matter where they live or what they look like," she said.

The annual event is organized by Parkland resident, Heather Khalil. Donations, volunteers, and extra hands are always needed as they reach and support people in need of the South Florida community. The residents of Miralago plan to make their support of this event an annual effort as well.
