PARKLAND, FL- The Miami Hurricanes and the Florida Gators have a decades-old rivalry that is a well known in the state of Florida and throughout college football. The two teams face off for the first time in 6 years on Saturday, August 24. The event is the unofficial kickoff to the college football season, and an excellent place to unite fans on both sides to support a great cause. 

Parkland Cares is supporting the rivalry game with a Gators vs. Canes Pre-Game Tailgate Party on Wednesaday, August 21, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Runyon's on Sample Road in Coral Springs. The event is $50/ person and includes bar bites and two drinks. All proceeds go to Parkland Cares. It includes meet and greets with former NFL, UM and UF players, a chance to win Canes tickets, a silent auction including sports memorabilia and more. The event was created by Don Silvestri, a former NFL player, current President of and a founding member of Parkland Cares. 

Parkland Cares, a local nonprofit established by Chairman Howard Dvorkin, provides free mental health care to those affected by the Stoneman Douglas tragedy. To date, Parkland Cares has donated $239,000 in support of the MSD community in its effort to promote long term healing and recovery.
