PARKLAND, FL- Parkland resident Hazel Melander wanted to organize with other local women and make a difference in the community. She formed a group called The Real Housewives of Parkland, in which local women gather for fun events to share the passion of supporting each other as career professionals, entrepreneurs, mothers, wives and simply proud Parklanders.
To honor October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Real Housewives of Parkland are hosting a “Pink Party”. The party will take place on October 24, 2019, from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. at Malbec Grill (7351 N State Road 7 in Parkland). Debby Thomas, Glam-A-Thon’s Executive Board Member and Real Housewife of Parkland, is helping Melander organize the festivities. This event is open to the public. Both women and men are encouraged to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A number of local vendors will join the party, and a percentage of sales, as well as of food and beverage proceeds from Malbec Grill, will be donated to Glam-A-Thon.
Glam-A-Thon is a nonprofit organization that raises money for local women battling breast cancer. They have partnered with Broward Health Foundation for breast cancer initiatives. According to its website Glam-A-Thon has donated $502,000 over the past six years to benefit the Lillian S. Wells Women’s Health Center and the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund. The proceeds help to fund free mammograms, diagnostic testing, and other needs for those undergoing breast cancer treatment.
