PARKLAND, FL- The pouring rain didn't stop around 100 people from protesting the arrival of Ilhan Omar on Saturday afternoon in Coral Springs. The group showed up at the Heron Bay Marriott on Saturday to voice support for President Trump and protest the speaking engagement of Rep. Ilhan Omar in Coral Springs on Saturday night.
Omar, a Congresswoman from Minnesota, has been in the middle of contentious words with Trump and the Republican Party regarding her anti-Semitic remarks and placing blame on the United States for its tactics in removing Nicolas Maduro from power in Venezuela. Her visibility has risen recently as President Trump described Omar as an "America-hating socialist," and a "disgrace." Omar was in town as a headline speaker at a fundraising banquet for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. The protesters carried American and Israeli flags, with messages written in both English and Hebrew.
