PARKLAND, FL- Summer has officially come and gone, and Broward is getting back into high gear.  Hopefully you had an opportunity to check out some of the great programs at our Broward County Parks and Libraries.  The fun continues in September and October throughout the County as Broward’s Cultural Division hosts a traveling exhibit of inflatable sculptures. In District 3 you can check out the abstract displays at the Tamarac Library in late September. Join us for this family friendly exhibit. The events will include programs such as story hours for children and other activities for all ages. For more info please visit

As many of you know, one of my top priorities is economic growth and sustainability for all of Broward County. This includes supporting innovation, the startup community, small businesses, and educational programs. I am honored that FAU has chosen to have me participate in the FAU Awards and Celebration of Entrepreneurship. Receiving the award of Distinguished Leader is a true honor. Ensuring that our residents, children, and grandchildren will have a great future in Broward County is paramount.  I look forward to continuing this mission for the residents of Broward County and District 3.

This month, the County budget approval process will be taking place.  From Broward’s Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, emergency services, transportation and everything in between, the County budget encompasses many aspects that affect our daily lives.  As your County Commissioner, I will make sure that the priorities of District 3 are heard. These include the continuing maintenance and upgrades of the emergency communications system, infrastructure improvements such as the Riverside Drive project, and programming in Northwest Broward such as those at our libraries and parks.

Speaking of opportunities, have you ever thought about becoming a licensed contractor or inspector for Broward County?  My office, along with Broward’s Building Code Services Division, is excited to host a seminar on how to pursue this great opportunity.  The seminar will be held on September 5th at 7 pm at the Gold Coast School in Tamarac. Please contact my office if you would like more information.

Exciting news for transportation options were just announced by Broward County. The Transit Division will be upgrading its TOPS paratransit service for those who have a need. 146 brand new TOPS vehicles have been purchased, of which 128 are funded by the Penny for Transportation Surtax. This will help expand and improve service for customers. In addition to this great news, Broward County has broken ground on a new fiber optic cable system for traffic signal communications. This underground network is the first part of infrastructure enhancements that will make our roads better for all motorists and pedestrians.

Last but not least, for all who celebrate, I would like to wish you and your family a happy Rosh Hashanah and blessed Yom Kippur. This is an important time to spend with family, friends, and community.

Staying connected with the residents of District 3 is a top priority for me. Every month, we hold office hours on the third Wednesday. I can be reached at or (954) 357-7003.
