PARKLAND, FL- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis held a press conference earlier today in Tallahassee announcing Phase 1 re-opening on Monday, May 4, 2020. This re-opening does not include Broward, Miami-Dade or Palm Beach Counties. Phase 1 details include retail stores will be allowed to open at 25% capacity, restaurants can open outdoor seating adhering to social distance requirements and indoor seating can operate at 25% capacity. Elective surgeries can be performed. Students will continue online schooling through the end of the school year.

According to the latest report from the Florida Department of Health, there are 33,193 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1218 deaths in Florida. Parkland has one new case this week bringing the total number to 24 confirmed cases. Coral Springs increased by 19 cases this week with 187 confirmed cases of COVID-19. In all, Broward County has 4898 total cases, the second largest number in the state behind Miami-Dade's 11,927 cases.
