Everglades Fires Expected To Continue Pushing Smoke into Parkland and Coral Springs Over the Weekend

PARKLAND, FL – As ash from fires in the Everglades continue to rain down on western Broward County, winds were expected to pick up on Saturday and push more smoke across the region.

On Friday, one of three brush fires in the Everglades, started by lightning strikes on Wednesday, had burned more than 6,000 acres in Broward County, according to Florida Forest Service.

BSO: Person Found Dead in Parkland This Week Died of Self-Inflicted Wound

PARKLAND – Broward Sheriff's Office investigators have determined that the person who was found dead earlier this week in Parkland died of a self-inflicted wound, a spokeswoman said Thursday.

The person was found near Rising Tide Car Wash at 7201 North State Road 7.
