PARKLAND, FL- Coastal Community Church has been experiencing tremendous growth since its opening in the fall of 2018. Located on University Drive in Parkland next to Kol Tikvah, Coastal's mission to serve the local community has already grown to six individual services each weekend before the Coronavirus pandemic arrived. Two services were being held on Saturday night and four on Sunday mornings.
Coastal is now ready to move into the second phase of its original opening plan, which is to build an auditorium on its property connected to the current church building. The auditorium will be larger than the current Coastal building, and the combined size of the buildings once complete will be 49,000 square feet. Coastal has permission to build up to 70,000 square feet on the current property. The height of the building to accommodate the auditorium will be about 45 feet, which places it in line with next door neighbor, Kol Tikvah.
The new building will be most significantly occupied by a large group auditorium that will seat roughly 800 people; this will allow the church to cut down on the six weekend services. The current auditorium holds around 300 people and will transition to multi-use space with a general focus on youth activities.
Coastal Community Church considers itself "a group of people from all walks of life who are being transformed by Jesus Christ. We are passionate about sharing the love of Christ by caring for, encouraging one another, and positively impacting our community."
The new building will be discussed at the City of Parkland Planning and Zoning Board meeting on Thursday night, which begins at 6 p.m.
