PARKLAND, FL- The holiday season is just around the corner. As we enter the last week of school and final full work week of the year for many people, we're trying to keep up with all the events, gatherings, and holidays on the schedule.

Notable local events are as follows:

  • "Navigating Through the Holidays," a Conversation with Parents and Dr. David Schonfeld will be held on Wednesday, December 18, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the MSD media center. The one hour session is designed to help parents, students, and families navigate the challenging and emotional circumstances of the holiday season.
  • The Stoneman Douglas Boys and Girls Basketball Teams both play their final games before holiday break on Tuesday versus Coral Glades High School.
  • The Stoneman Douglas Boys Soccer Team plays on Tuesday against Cardinal Gibbons, while the MSD Girls Team plays Cardinal Gibbons on Thursday
  • Friday is the last school day for Broward Public Schools before the holiday break, and the final day of school is an early release day for students.
  • Hannukah begins on the evening of December 22 and ends the evening of December 30. For more information, please visit Chabad of Parkland or Kol Tikvah. Kol Tikvah will also be hosting a winter break camp from December 23 - January 3.
  • Coastal Community Church of Parkland will be hosting a Christmas Eve in the Park service at 5 p.m. in Pine Trails Park on December 24. There will be fun for the whole family, including games, bounce houses, live music, an engaging Christmas message, Santa, and a hot cocoa bar.
  • Calvary Chapel Parkland will be holding its Christmas Eve service on December 24 at 5 p.m.
  • Mary Help of Christians will be hosting Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services at the following times:  Christmas Eve at 4:00 p.m. (English) and 5:30 p.m. (English), 7:00 PM (Spanish), and 10:00 PM Mass at Night (Bilingual). Christmas Day at 8:00 AM (English), 10:00 AM (English), and 12:00PM (Spanish).
