CORAL SPRINGS, FL - A truck filled with diapers, detergent, and other essential household items had just pulled up at Parkridge Church in Coral Springs on Friday morning, and Pastor Daryl Brown was quickly covered in sweat as he helped unload a mountain of boxes.

The church’s adults/mission pastor joined other staff in preparing for Saturday’s free community distribution of essential household goods and personal care items to families in need because of economic pains related to Covid-19.

“For many families right now, every bit helps as they stretch their budgets,” during the pandemic, Brown said.

In all, the church expects close to 500 families to pull up during the drive-by event at 5600 Coral Ridge Drive from 8 to 11 am.

Parkridge Church is teaming up with Chinese Baptist Church of Coral Springs and Cross United Church in Lighthouse Point for the distribution, which is in partnership with Food For The Poor and Matthew 25: Ministries.

About 100 volunteers will work Friday afternoon and Saturday morning to prepare and give out the donated items, including baby diapers, detergent, shampoo, razors, shaving cream, toiletries, and hand soap.

Brown said it’s the first time the church has hosted such an event.

“We’re told in the Scripture to love your neighbor and this is our opportunity to do that,” he said.
