The Anthony Rizzo Foundation is hosting its 8th Annual Walk-Off For Cancer at Pine Trails park on November 24th.  Parkland native and Chicago Cubs World Series Champion, Anthony Rizzo, founded the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation after his own battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma.

The Walk Off For Cancer has become one of the Foundation’s major fundraisers.  “The event is held in Parkland each year because it is Anthony’s hometown, and it holds a special place in his heart.  It’s an amazing community that we are all proud to call home,” says Sarah Rizzo, Anthony’s sister-in-law. Anthony is now in remission, and is passionate about providing emotional and financial support to cancer patients and their families.

Anyone interested in registering or creating a team can do so by visiting www.rizzo44.com. The event sells out each year, so those interested should register early. There are fun incentives that can be earned such as autographed baseballs, bats, and Chicago Cubs tickets.

Proceeds from the walk benefit a number of organizations including the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and the University of Miami Comprehensive Cancer Center. Last year’s event raised $1.2 million, and they are hoping to exceed that amount this year. In addition to the walk held in Parkland, the Foundation also holds Cook Off and Laugh Off Events annually in the Chicago area.
